With sustainability at our core, we are proud to be part-taking in Oxfam’s Second Hand September campaign, which encourages consumers to become more sustainable by purchasing only second-hand clothing during the month of September.
With up to 13 million items of clothing being sent to landfill every week in the UK, Second Hand September aims to raise awareness of the detrimental impact that throwaway fashion is producing on our planet and its people.
As part of the campaign, Oxfam opened a Second Hand September pop-up shop in Selfridges, London, featuring a mix of clothes and accessories. The shop also draws attention to Selfridges’ new initiative, Project Earth, which promotes eco-friendly ways to keep fashion enthusiasts doing what they love most- shopping!
Second Hand September also highlights the increasing popularity of rental services, which is expected to overtake fast fashion as a consumer trend over the coming years. Our client, Front Row, offers luxury alternatives to purchasing high priced items from major designers, such as Chanel, Fendi and Jenny Packham, allowing consumers to stay stylish whilst reducing their carbon footprint.
We are joining the pledge to say no to new clothes for 30 days and have created a guide of our go-to shops, both online and offline:
Help to reduce the impact fast fashion is playing on our environment by joining Second Hand September and say no to purchasing new clothes for 30 days or more!
