We are very excited to welcome our newest team member Dana. We sat down with her on our sofa, and asked her a few questions to introduce her to GSC.
1. First of all, welcome to the team. Tell us a little bit about your new role at GSC.
Hi, I am joining the GSC team as an Account Executive. Within this role, my responsibilities will be split into two areas. On one hand, I’ll be focussing directly on PR work, working with GSC’s existing clients as well as building relationships with new clients and researching for new business opportunities. On the other hand, I will be working on GSC’s digital offering, looking after our own social media and digital strategies for our clients.
2. You first joined us as an intern earlier this year. Would you like to tell us a little bit about the GSC Internship programme?
I did, I interned at GSC for 3 months while studying a master’s degree at the LSE. When I started interning here, I did not really know what to expect, especially as I had not worked in PR or creative comms before. This internship was very hands-on, giving me the opportunity to learn about working with big clients, building relationships with the media, as well as use my creativity to support the company’s own social media. I also particularly enjoyed the trust the company had in me. Within the first week I attended 3 pitches, one of which was 31st State who we started working with shortly after. It has been wonderful to have met this client at the very beginning of their partnership with us and I got to see how a brand goes from being an opportunity to a success story.
3. Tell us a little bit about your previous experiences and what led you to us
I grew up in Vienna, Austria, and lived there until I finished high school in 2015. I moved to the UK to study Management with Marketing at the University of Leeds, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After interning throughout my summers and successfully graduating, I moved to London, where I worked for the Union of Jewish students as their Communications officer for a year. My previous internships as well as this position led me to realise that I want to pursue a career in creative communications, however, I wanted to go back to university to deepen my understanding of audiences through an academic perspective before fully immersing myself in my career. I studied MSc Culture and Society at the LSE, with my main focus and dissertation being on the perception of women in advertising.
What led me to GSC was mainly coincidence- my flatmate is a lawyer, and her firm was working with GSC. She told me that she had met Gabrielle and how lovely she was. I googled the company, dropped them an email. The rest is history.
