GSC Loves: Burberry’s Celebration of British Summer

This week #GSCLoves Burberry’s Celebration of British Summer! As the sunshine finally graces the UK, Team GSC is admiring the best of British Summer through Burberry’s recent campaigns. From countryside escapism to festival flair, these partnerships spotlight the brand’s refreshed focus on heritage, nature, and nostalgic luxury.

Highgrove x Burberry

The newest collaboration between Burberry and Highgrove Gardens, a collection celebrating British springtime’s natural beauty, taking inspiration from the gardens of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s private residences. Described by Business of Fashion as failing to achieve the “Sisyphean” task of brand elevation in line with French and Italian luxury accessory counterparts and having been previously accused by Luca Solca of “losing much of its British character” the UK luxury stalwart has been charting a course of returning to their roots following a brand refocus at the end of last year. This partnership unites fashion and sustainability in an elegant 28-piece collection of menswear, womenswear, and accessories which honour designer and fashion illustrator Helen Bullock who describes falling for the “tangled sway of wildflowers and that special combination of dancing poppies and cosmos” that find their home in the gardens of Highgrove.

Burberry Festival

A celebration of 1990s nostalgia and the spirit of ‘Cool Britannia,’ Burberry Festival brings together an all-star cast from music, fashion, and television. From the Gallagher brothers to Cara Delevingne and Alexa Chung, this campaign captures the carefree energy of British summer festivals, spotlighting rain-or-shine style staples like Rubber Marsh Boots in Burberry Check, leather jackets, and weatherproof fleeces. Accessories including curved crossbody bags and the Highlands family of practical totes designed for adventurous days ahead. It’s a love letter to muddy fields, bucket hats, and the off-duty, rebellious charm of the iconic British Festival season.

The British at Play: Burberry at The Newt

This summer, Burberry heads to the countryside in a charming collaboration with The Newt in Somerset – a playful, stylish escape celebrating the best of British tradition. Hadspen House gets a seasonal makeover, as Burberry’s signature check is reimagined in heritage green and draped across everything from croquet lawns to luxury train carriages. Guests can indulge in a refined summer itinerary: Afternoon Tea aboard the beautifully restored Maid of Somerset Pullman carriage, complete with sparkling Sprankel and exquisite hand-made pastries. Then, venture into the gardens, orchards, or lakeside with your Burberry picnic blanket and Newt hamper packed with fresh, seasonal fare. Expect daily cream tea and croquet, sunset badminton with Burberry-themed cocktails, and the ultimate celebration of British countryside luxury.

CEO Joshua Schulman has set out to restore “timeless British luxury” to the forefront of Burberry’s brand, and Team GSC are enjoying Burberry’s exploration of this theme, as find inspiration from the beauty of the natural world, as well as iconic British institutions such as the classic charm of a country house and garden. We’ll be looking out for further examples of how Burberry go on to embrace true British craftsmanship within their ‘back to basics’ approach and authentic association with British luxury…
